We are just a few months away from Botswana Worlds and the organizing team would like to assist participants with travel arrangements and making sure they have a comfortable and easy ride to Botswana.

The Botswana Worlds committee along with South African Airways are working together to bring you the most cost effective journey to the country. The company’s vast area of global coverage means that it can fly each participant directly from their city of origin to Gaborone, Botswana, hassle free, on a special Botswana Worlds rate.

This rate will include numerous added benefits, such as access to exclusive airport lounges during transit, and participant will have an exclusive baggage class, separate from the normal baggage which will be expressly chartered straight to Gaborone.

The Botswana Worlds SAA rate will also include the bonus of having extra flexibility when it comes to changing your flight dates, with no penalties. There will be many post worlds events and excursions that may result in some participants having the desire to stay a few extra days. All this will be handled directly by a sales agent who will have a desk available on site at the campus where the event will be hosted.

Due to the large number of participants we have the entire contingent can benefit from a group discount which simply put means the more people that book through us, the cheaper it will be for everyone. So in a very non debating fashion we all have to agree on this!

From Johannesburg to Gaborone

Getting from Johannesburg to Gaborone, Botswana is cheapest if that portion of the ticket is purchased separately from other round trip airfare. If you purchase a ticket through a travel agent from your destination to Gaborone it can cost 300 USD to 1000 USD more. Purchasing airfare separately from Johanesburg to Gaborone costs from 200 USD to 260 USD round trip. However this fare could become cheaper with the travel influx from the World Cup

We have negotiated special group rates for Worlds Participants. This letter from Air Botswana details this offer.

Optionally there is also bus company which allows online reservations. There is a daily bus to Gaborone, arriving at about 11pm. The fare varies from 25 USD – 40 USD for a one way ticket. www.intercape.co.za

Car rental is also an option. Reservation can be made online and cars can be picked up at the Johannesburg Int’l Airport (O.R. Tambo) or the Gaborone Int’l Airport (Sir Seretse Khama) upon arrival. Daily tariffs for a compact car start at 30 USD – 35 USD if booked online.
